Underground
Development
Drifting and development of the North Briar zone
prior to bulk sampling (mining) is continuing.
Exploration drifting into the Briar porphyry
and into a newly discovered gold zone is ongoing. Following the discovery of
visible gold in the porphyry, exploration drifting continued and encountered a
previously unknown gabbro zone. Samples returned values of up to 14.8g/t over
4.5 meters (previously reported, see press release October 27, 2009)
Further to the above, the drift has now
advanced a further 10 meters and has encountered quartz veins in porphyry with
sections of significant free visible gold. Exploration work continues.
Preparation for the installation of the second
escape manway and ventilation raise is underway.
The first long hole blast in the Chabela zone
has been completed and mucking of the initial 4,000 tonnes is underway.
Beacon Mill
The Beacon Mill start up is scheduled for
November 23, with an initial 5-7 day run of waste rock for bedding of the mill.
Presently the rod and ball mills have been loaded and prepared for operations.
The CSST (
McKenzie Break
At the McKenzie Break project, blasting and
excavation of the decline portal entrance will be complete by November 20.
Bolting and screening of the portal walls will begin by the week of November
23.
Surface building, compressor and genset
installation is also underway.
Callahan Project
Surface drilling on the Callahan gold project,
located north of the Malartic-Midway project is also ongoing.
Michel David, president states “the Company
continues its growth with two underground exploration and development programs
underway. The start up of our Beacon Mill for processing of the material sampled
from the Chabela and porphyry zone and later for the Briar is an exciting time
for all involved. The underground bulk sampling from the McKenzie Break project
(February 2010) is greatly anticipated. The fact that we have been accident and
injury free, demonstrates the professionalism of all those employees and
contractors at Northern Star’s”.
