NORTHERN STAR ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES
Val d’Or, Quebec, February
23, 2010 – Northern Star Mining Corp. (TSX-V: NSM,
OTCQX: NSMSF) (“NSM” or the “Company”) announces
that Michel David has resigned
as Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of NSM effective immediately. Mr.
David will continue on as a director of the Company.
The Company has
appointed Jonathan Awde, Vice-President, Corporate Finance, to serve as interim
President and CEO of NSM. Mr. Awde has extensive financial experience and been
instrumental in helping to raise over $80 million for the Company since joining
the board of directors in 2007.
The Board is also reviewing NSM’s overall personnel
requirements with a view to expanding development of the Company’s Midway gold
project in Val d’Or, Quebec and fulfiling its goals of becoming a mid-tier gold
producer and maximizing shareholder value. Further management related
announcements are expected in the near term.
Mr. Jonathan Awde,
spokesman for the Board, stated: “We would like to sincerely thank Mr. David for
his valuable contribution to the Company for the past 8 years. Under Mr. David’s
leadership, NSM successfully assembled an impressive exploration land package
in Val d’Or, Quebec and moved the Midway project from a pure exploration
property to the Company’s first gold pour (as announced on February 5, 2010).

on this important phase at its Midway gold project in
